Davis is very interested in “pee peeing in the potty.” Usually after he has just pee peed in his diaper, he’ll run to the bathroom and yell, “Pee pee in the potty.” We take off his diaper and sit him on the toilet, but alas, the deed has already been done.
Today right after putting a fresh diaper on him, he said, “Pee pee in the potty.” I put him on the toilet and we stayed in the bathroom for at least 10 minutes to no avail. I finally took him off, he screamed and pleaded to “pee pee in the potty.” I took him to the other bathroom, placed him on the toilet and waited. Nothing happened. We must have sat their another 10 minutes. Finally, I took him off the toilet and walked to the kitchen, leaving him in the bathroom screaming.
After preparing his afternoon snack, I walked back into the bathroom to find him pee peeing on the floor. He really did have to go. Because of me, it was a missed opportunity, a missed celebration, a missed milestone. My impatience caused him to miss his first chance to “pee pee in the potty.” For some reason, that makes me feel so sad, like I didn’t believe that he could do it.
